OUR COMMUNITY

Over the years, we’ve gotten to know a lot of professional athletes. We’ve got friends from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. And the idea for The Beta was actually born on the 12th hole of a charity golf tournament hosted by Jordan Poyer, safety for the Buffalo Bills.

Jordan made the comment that the golf people were “our people” and that Alma Mater should make a really good golf shoe. Something that played well, was comfortable to walk in, and looked good. So, we started to draw and tinker and prototype and refine. Two full years later, we’re launching The Beta.

Every version of this shoe was tested, critiqued and improved by members of The Alma Mater Squad. Former pro athletes are used to competing at the highest level and demand a lot from their equipment. Having hard conversations about details that just weren’t good enough was difficult. But with the support of this group, The Beta has become a golf shoe that’s like nothing else in the market.
